DAY 1: ARRIVAL - HO CHI MINH
On arrival at Tan San Nhat airport you are met and transferred to hotel. Ho Chi Minh City still called Saigon by many locals’ people, which is the center of commerce, finance, culture and tourism in Vietnam. This bustling metropolis, contradiction of its northern counterpart is crowded with bikes and motorbike exciting with numerous shopping area and sidewalk cafés. O/N in Ho Chi Minh.
DAY 2: HO CHI MINH - CU CHI TUNNELS - HO CHI MINH (B)
The sightseeing tour of Ho Chi Minh City begins with Reunification Palace which was the former residence of the Southern Vietnam President until end of April 1975. Close to the palace are some striking French colonial structures including the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Old Sai Gon Post Office. We also visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda, War Remnant Museum before continuing to the bustling Ben Thanh Market where handy craft, laquer ware and more on sales! This afternoon we drive Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground network of approximately 200 km constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the long struggle for independence. The tunnels contained hospitals, accommodation and schools, which were used as a military base for the Vietcong in the Vietnam War. O/N in Ho Chi Minh.
DAY 3 : SAI GON - CAIBE (B/L/D)
8am: Depart for Caibe - 2 and a half hour: can stop at Trung Luong for some cups of tea/coffee and toilet. 10.30am: get on a motorized boat (with cover and life jackets). Cruise to see a bit of the wholesale floating market, and catch some pictures of fishing activities (cameras should be ready on your hands most of the times). A visit stop on a nearby island to see local businesses e.g. pop rice made, coconut candy made, rice wine made, rice paper made... a lunch stop at a local family on another island with Mekong specialties such as elephant ear fish, fresh water prawns... keep going to cruise to another island to see more other local businesses, for instance brick/tile factory, knife made, keep going to cruise to a home stay in Long Ho island a dinner will be included with more local cuisines such as rice soup with chicken, steamed elephant ear fish with rice paper (make your own rolls)...and some cups of rice wine will make your meal more tasty and lively... an optional folksong showed if requested. Overnight on Long Ho island (a folded single bed, a pillow, a blanket and a small towel will provided - hot and cold shower with private toilet well-set up here - so should not worry!)
DAY 4: CAIBE - SAI GON (B/L)
For whom that can get up early! - 6am - 7.30am: a walk around the island to see a local market and a primary school near-by. Highly recommended!
- 6am - 7.30am: an optional short cycling trip around the island (bike can be rented easily at the home stay).
For everyone!
- 7.30am - 8am: breakfast
- 8am: cruise to see more the floating market
- On the way back, stop at Dong Tam snake farm, the biggest farm in the country.
- Lunch at Trung Luong
- Keep going to head back to the bustling and hustling Saigon.
DAY 5: HO CHI MINH-SIEM REAP ( B/ L/ D)
Breakfast at hotel you are transferred to Tan San Nhat airport for departure to Siem reap,
Afternoon visit the most famous of all the temples on the Angkor Plain: Angkor Wat the temple complex covers 81 hectares with five towers and built in 12 centuries and become the biggest religious temple in the world and symbolizes the Meru's mountain's five peaks, the enclosed wall represents the mountain at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat symbolizes the ocean beyond, Continue to see the sunset from Phnom Bakheng one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor, from where you can speculate the view of western Baray.
DAY 6: SIEM REAP ( B/ L/ D)
Breakfast at Hotel. Visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century ) See the South Gate( with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk ), Bayon Temple ( unique for 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara ), Phimeanakas , the Royal Enclosure, Elephant Terrace and the terrace of the leper king . In the afternoon visit the most famous of all the temples: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares with five towers. It symbolizes Meru's mountain.Then view the sunset from Phnom Bakheng, one of two hills dominating the plain of Angkor, and which affords spectacular views of western the Baray. DAY 7: SIEM REAP ( B/L)
Breakfast at Hotel, visit Banteay Srei temple (10th century), regarded as the jewel in the crown of classical khmer art. Then continue your visit to Banteay somre, built the third quarter of the 12th century .it consist of a central temple with four wings proceeded by a hall and accompanies by a two libraries, the southernmost of which is remarkably well preserved. Two concentric walls enclose the ensemble.
Afternoon visit the floating village of chong khneas, located 10 km south of Siem Reap. Visit the village and take a traditional wooden boat for a ride on the Tonle Sap, the great lake of Cambodia and the largest in Asia, overnight in Siem reap.
DAY 8: SIEM REAP-PHNOM PENH ( B/L/ D)
Breakfast in hotel, you are transferred to port for taking the speed boat for phnom penh about 6hrs:National Museum, also called the (Musee des Beaux-Art).A French archeologist and painter, Georges Groslier, designed the khmer style building in 1917. It contains a large collection of Arts notably sculptures representing in each period of khmer history. Royal palace, Built by French in 1866 on the site of the 15th centuries Palace and silver pagoda also named because of the floor which is made up of 5329 silver tiles. With 90 kg of gold Buddha and 2086 diamonds. Wat Phnom. Wat Phnom was built by Madam Penh in 1372 when she found a Buddha inside a Koki tree on the site. It is still an important historical side with great religious significance for Cambodians today. Diner at local restaurant.
DAY 9: PHNOM PENH ( B/ L )
Breakfast at Hotel. Visit the Toul Sleng Museum(S-21 prison). This former school was used as a prison by Pol Pot's security forces. It became the largest center of detention and torture during the brutal rule of the Khmer Rouge and the Killing Fields ( 15km south of phnom penh ) Between 1975 and late 1978 around 17,000 men, women, children, infants ( including nine westerners) were detained and tortured at the S-21 prison and transport to the extermination camp of Choeng Ek. They were often bludgeoned to death to avoid wasting precious bullets. Fragment of human bone and bits of cloth are scattered around disinterred pits. There are over 8000 skulls arranged by sex and age which are visible behind the clear glass panels of the. Afternoon take a Cylo tour 2 Hours around part of city, and walk along the river front of royal palace.
DAY 10 : PHNOM PENH-SIHANOUKVILLE ( B)
break fast in hotel you are transferred to sihanoukville with 2.30 Hours drive from Phnom penh, with our car and guide, afternoon free at leisure on the beach.
DAY 11 : SIHANOUKVILLE ( B)
